Buying wardrobe essentials can be difficult. Wanting good quality pieces that are both versatile and affordable can lead to hours of searching the internet for reviews, manufacturing information and trying to compare brands. Reigning Champ is a brand that maintains a solid reputation for high-quality essentials, but they aren’t cheap.
Coming under the umbrella company of CYC Design Corporation, and as the sister company of wings + horns, this Canadian-based brand also makes all its products in Canada, which certainly contributes to the high prices. CYC Design Corp. has previously produced garments for Supreme and Arc’teryx, also mostly known for good quality clothing.
I recently purchased a Reigning Champ tank top and twill shorts from wings + horns during the Easter Sale and I was extremely impressed with the quality of both items. Even though I managed to get these pieces on sale, even at full price they are well worth the cost. This was my first experience with these brands and it was great!

The aesthetic of Reigning Champ is minimalistic streetwear, a style that is trending currently, but they have been offering it for over a decade. The brand makes predominately simplistic sportswear with a finesse of small details that contribute to the overall quality of their clothing. Certain pieces will feature a larger logo, but the image, color, and design don’t detract from the simplicity of the clothing.
In a higher price range than other brands which offer similar styles, Reigning Champ’s distinguishing factor is the high quality of the materials and of the stitching. You can feel the difference between cheaper brands, even though you may spend a lot less on other brands the quality just isn’t the same. Their cotton doesn’t pill, and the inner lining is extremely soft. The exterior can feel a bit abrasive, but the interior is always gentle on the skin.
Regarding the fit and measurements, Reigning Champ does measure half an inch or so smaller than Supreme and Arc’teryx so it’s advised that you size up for the best fit. Some reviews have claimed that the chest sizing is particularly tight around the armpit area so that can be a nuisance when shopping online. However, if you take your measurements and follow the sizing guides for each product, rather than estimating, then you should be able to pick the best size.
I decided on an XS for my purchase of the tank top and I found that it fits perfectly, but as I said before, be sure to take your measurements and choose your size according to the guidelines provided in the product page of the Reigning Champ website.
Reigning Champ aims to offer a wide range of clothing which are both practical and which fit the simple aesthetic. I’ve found that the fabric keeps my temperature regulated and is great for exercising. With the tank top that I ordered is a nice, slim fit with flat locked seams which are soft yet secure. I like the length and the scooped hem which is comfortable even I’m being active and it’s a flattering shape.
Reigning Champ is renowned for their use of fleece and this wouldn’t be a complete review if I didn’t mention one of the more notable favorite fleece items. Polartec fleece pants are an item every active man needs. These are handcrafted in Canada and are perfect for exercise as the fleece will wick sweat away from your body and is able to dry quickly. The fleece is also able to help regulate your body temperature and keep you warm so you’ll be able to go for an early morning job, even in winter.
Another item worth considering is their unique take on the standard white tee, the Cut-off Crewneck in light-weight terry cloth. The tee features the same durable flat locked seems of the tank top and the attention to detail in the manufacturing is impressive. The cut-off sleeves and the street soccer-inspired design really makes this white tee stand out amongst competitors, which is not an easy thing to accomplish!
Reigning Champ offers a wide range of different variates of essential wardrobe pieces. Their website’s store displays mostly charcoal, white and black options but there is the option of a pop of color in certain designs.
Without any hesitation, I’d recommend purchasing staple pieces from Reigning Champ. The price point is high but you’re getting clothing of exceptional quality. The color palette which the brand operates with is mostly neutral, so you’ll be able to mix and match clothing from Reigning Champ with other brands if you prefer to include a wider range of colors. From light-weight tees to more heavy-duty fleece pants, you’ll certainly be able to find activewear that fits your needs and preferences. Keep the sizing guides in mind and you won’t be disappointed.
